At Minimally Invasive Colon and Rectal Surgery of South Florida, we are committed to the well-being of our community. Dr. Belizon has been very active with the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery, and many of their community events both locally and around the country. One of Dr. Belizon’s highest priorities is to raise awareness concerning colon and rectal cancer, to educate the public about the need for cancer screening and the options available to patients with colorectal cancer. Dr. Belizon has pioneered landmark studies that have evaluated laparoscopic and other minimally invasive approaches for the treatment of colorectal cancer. He has published ground breaking research on the benefits of minimally invasive surgery for the long term outcome of patients with cancer.  This research has won many first place awards both abroad as well as here in Florida. More importantly it has played an important role in improving the way colorectal cancer patients are treated around the world.

Dr. Belizon has not only lectured across the world on colon and rectal surgical and non-surgical topics, but has focused on the local community to help the citizens of the greater Palm Beach County. Dr Belizon is the medical director of the local Palm Beach Ostomy support group and has directed many events and meetings for that group as well as other support groups in the community. Dr. Belizon has lectured around the world as well as locally in south florida raising public awareness about colorectal diseases and treatments.  This has been done on a volunteer basis.
